This week, CSA Manager Tyler and his wife Ana share their favorite bread pudding recipe with us!

“It tastes way better than it looks, but that’s kinda the point,” they say.

Their secret to the best-tasting bread pudding in Santa Clara County? The Midwife & The Baker bread, of course! Ana and Tyler suggest their walnut currant loaf to really show off and make it seem like you know what you’re doing (even when you don’t!). We think they’ve got it handled, either way.

The Finest Bread Pudding in Santa Clara County

  • Pre-heat oven to 350°

  • Mix in bowl:

    • 4 eggs

    • 2 cups whole milk (Strauss recommended)

    • 1/4 cup white sugar

    • 1 tsp vanilla

    • 1-1.5 tsp ground cinnamon

    • 4 strawberries (Coke Farms recommended), finely chopped

    • A handful of blueberries

  • Lightly pan-fry the following:

    • 3 tbsp salted butter

    • 1 loaf Walnut Currant from Midwife, chopped in 1 inch cubes

  • Once bread cubes are slightly browned/crisp, remove and place in bakeware of your choice.

  • Pour mixture from bowl into glassware and bake for 50 minutes or until you can poke the mixture with a toothpick and it comes out clean.

Enjoy by itself or with a tasty french vanilla ice cream topping for a decadent reward!
